General Questions

Who can participate on my team?

DC SCORES is open to poet-athletes in the 1st through 8th grade who attend participating schools. DC SCORES is open to young people regardless of background or experience in soccer or poetry.

Some schools may have more students who wish to join than places in the program. Program places are filled at coach’s discretion, though coaches are encouraged to consider factors such as access to other out-of-school-time opportunities and keeping siblings together when considering which poet-athletes to select for the team.

What is the schedule?

DC SCORES programming runs through the fall (September – November) and spring (March – June) seasons.

Coaches set practice schedules for their schools. Soccer gamedays take place on Wednesdays (Junior SCORES), Thursdays (Elementary School SCORES), and Fridays (Middle School SCORES). All games are scheduled to start at 4pm.

How does the coach stipend work?

Coaches are paid per session, with session rates determined by how long you have coached in the program. Additional stipends and bonuses are granted for attendance at program events and trainings. Check out the coach compensation guide for more information about the coach stipend.

Section 138

Audi Field Tickets

Thanks to our official community partnerships with both D.C. United and the Washington Spirit, DC SCORES is proud to call Section 138 of Audi Field home!

DC SCORES has free tickets for poet-athletes and coaches for every D.C. United and Spirit home game, giving poet-athletes a chance to meet their soccer heroes and gain an understanding of the sport you can only get from the pros.
