Two DC SCORES Leaders Named to DC Soccer All-Star Team
Board member Steve Hartell and CDO Tony Francavilla named to GREAT USA Coalition’s DC Soccer All-Star Team.
DC SCORES board member and Amazon Vice President of Public Policy Steve Hartell and Chief Development Officer Tony Francavilla were named to the GREAT USA Coalition’s 2026 DC Soccer All-Star Team.
The recognition, announced following last month’s conclusion of the FIFA World Cup 2026, celebrates members of the District’s policy community who have championed soccer in the nation’s capital. Honorees include members of Congress, congressional staff, lobbyists, and other leaders who have supported and grown the sport locally. GREAT USA Coalition also noted the recognition comes as the country looks ahead to hosting the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Since Hartell joined the DC SCORES board in 2025, he, Francavilla, and the Amazon team have worked together to expand Amazon’s partnership with DC SCORES. That support funds an entire year of soccer, poetry, and service-learning programming at Leckie Education Campus and Ketcham Elementary School serving more than 120 poet-athletes in Ward 8. It covers everything from uniforms, equipment, writing supplies, journals, game-day fields, coach stipends, transportation, and referees.
This year, Amazon deepened their commitment by becoming the presenting sponsor of DC SCORES Cup 2026, the largest corporate charity soccer tournament in the region, with nearly 50 teams and 700+ professionals. Teams from Amazon, JPMorgan, Deloitte, Marriott, the Carlyle Group, Volkswagen, Uber, and law firms including Latham Watkins, Akin Grump, Venable, and Williams & Connolly took the field. Funds raised directly support our programs, serving 3,500 poet-athletes across 68 schools in the District.

“I can’t wait to continue working with Steve and other members of this team to build the soccer economy in the District,” said Francavilla. “This World Cup was a blast, but hopefully it’s the last major tournament hosted in the U.S. without matches in D.C. We’re already looking forward to welcoming the world to Poet-Athlete City for the 2031 Women’s World Cup!”
