Will DC SCORES provide jerseys?

Yes! Each team will receive a set of 15 free jerseys of the same color, with the SCORES Cup logo on the front and your company name and logo on the back.

This year, we are excited to announce that New Balance will provide team jerseys as part of the America SCORES network’s partnership with the company!

What should I wear? Is any equipment required?

Each team will be given 15 free New Balance jerseys of the same color, featuring the tournament logo on the front and your company name or logo on the back. Please wear athletic bottoms (shorts/pants), shin guards (required), and appropriate athletic shoes/cleats (metallic cleats are not allowed on the fields).

Team shirt colors have been communicated to team captains. If you plan on having more than 15 players, please have extra t-shirts that are close in color.

The District often experiences hot weather in June, so we recommend that players wear light-colored socks and cleats, if you have them!

Will food and drinks be provided at the event?

Yes! Free snacks will be available at the concourse, and participants can fill up on water at stations across the tournament.

Food trucks will be on site for players to purchase food and SCORES Cup features a beer tent (all players will receive a free drinks ticket). This year, we will have food trucks from The Big CheeseArnis Kitchen, and Brando’s Ice Cream.

Where can I find the tournament schedule and rules?

SCORES Cup tournament rules can be found here. Please note that SCORES Cup follows FIFA Laws, except where specified in the tournament rules.

The tournament schedule is posted for players at the top of this page. Note that the session times are determined by the division your team signs up for (Law, Casual, or Competitive) — see our first FAQ for more information on division schedules.

Can teams bring spectators?

Yes! Teams are encouraged to bring family and friends to SCORES Cup. However, please note that spectators are not permitted on the turf and should watch games from the bleachers or outside the fence.

Family and friends are also welcome to enjoy all SCORES Cup activations, including the beer tent (for over 21s only) and other activities.

Do you have a rain, thunder, and lightning policy?

Yes! Please see below for our policies regarding rain, thunder, and lightning. Please note that the Fields at RFK may close the venue for other extreme weather events.

SCORES Cup play will continue through rain unless conditions become unsafe.

SCORES Cup will comply with The Fields at RFK’s thunder and lightning policy. If there is thunder or lightning at the Fields, play will stop for 30 minutes, and players will be directed to shelter in their cars or under the pavilion at the venue. During the break, staff will monitor weather conditions. If no thunder or lightning is observed during the 30-minute break, play will resume. If thunder or lightning is observed during the 30-minute break, staff will reset the clock and monitor the weather for an additional 30 minutes until conditions are clear.

Do you have a hot weather policy?

Yes! Please see below for our policies regarding hot weather. Please note that the Fields at RFK may close the venue for other extreme weather events.

If the heat index is forecast or registers between 100-104 on the day of SCORES Cup: Staff and referees will modify play either by decreasing halves by 2-5 minutes, and/or increasing halftime by 5 minutes. Our staff will implement additional shade measures and ensure teams are ready with adequate substitutes.

If the heat index is forecast or registers between 105-108 on the day of SCORES Cup: Staff and referees will follow the steps above and modify play further by eliminating a game, if possible, to end the event by noon.

If the heat index is forecast or registers above 109 on the day of SCORES Cup: SCORES Cup will be cancelled. Heat indexes in this range substantially increase the risk of heat-related illness and death, and are classified as an excessive heat emergency by the D.C. government.
